All That Glitz opened December 2006 on the Internet operating out of a guest bedroom above our garage. Internet sales came in immediately from the US and Abroad. At the same time we decided to open a brick and mortar store at a yet to be built Super Target Shopping Centre.
October 2007 we opened our first retail store along with keeping the Internet. Business took off as expected. However, May 2008 all tenants in the Shopping Center received the unfortunate news of a State Bridge Construction Project to begin that month and would last three years. The bridges were in front of the Shopping Center. All traffic was directed away from the Shopping Center.
When construction began in May 2008, for the next three months our business dropped 80%, therefore, we closed on August 31, 2008. We chose a new location one mile away and opened December 2008 until present. Year to date thru August 31, 2009 our business is up 45% in gross receipts.
The decision to franchise came after only being open a few months at the first location. This decision was prompted by the enormous number of part-time residents who live primarily in other states saying, "If we had a store like this back home, it would do fantastic." Well, after hearing that a couple of thousand times and knowing the cities they were from were pretty diverse, it became apparent this would be one incredible franchise. Also having sold this fashion jewelry on the internet in almost every state and several countries with email compliments saying the same thing it became a must to go forward.
To our future franchisees, "Put your seat belts on, cause you're in for the ride of your life."
