A Portion of the Days Sales to go to Relief Efforts
Friday, September 16, 2005, has been declared a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance by President Bush. Woodcraft Supply Corporation will honor victims and survivors of Hurricane Katrina by donating a portion of all Woodcraft sales to the American Red Cross for the relief efforts. We encourage area residents to stop by their local store, go to www.woodcraft.com or call 800-225-1153 to help Woodcraft help the victims recover from this massive storm. In addition to Fridays contributions, the Mobile, Ala. Woodcraft Store has asked the woodworking community to extend their generosity by making wooden toys and puzzles for distribution to those many homeless children impacted by the tragedy who may not have anything for Christmas this year. The people of America care deeply about all the survivors, but this catastrophic event has been especially traumatic for the children, says Gary Lombard, VP, Multi-Channel Sales. Its a privilege for our 78 nationwide stores, our internet and catalog divisions to be able to contribute with both monetary funds and toys for the kids. We anticipate many woodworkers will donate their time and talents creating toys to be dropped off at their local store, says Lombard. Turning a toy top is an extremely easy woodworking project, says Lombard. It requires few supplies and skills, along with needing just a small amount of workspace. Results are fast and impressive --- even for a novice. Using basic lathe skills, anyone can produce the small toy quickly.
