Dylan's mother Stephanie snatched him Sunday afternoon during a visit at his grandmother's who is the boy's legal guardian. Police had tips that Dylan and his mother were in the Dallas area. About 11:00 AM Thursday morning, Dylan was turned over to police in Mesquite a community just outside Dallas. Investigators there had been able to make contact with some of the mother's acquaintances and convinced them that the toddler might be in danger if he remained with her. 6 News spoke with Dylan's grandmother just moments after she got the news that he was safe n' sound. Esmeralda Rios said she heard about Dylan's discovery by watching the news this afternoon - which signaled the end to one of the longest weeks of her life. It's been at least four days since Dylan Rios was last seen playing in his grandmother's yard, but now he's on his way home. "Man, so glad that he has been found. Just waiting for him to come back," said Esmeralda. She is Dylan's grandmother and legal guardian and admits she is angry at her daughter the child's biological mother. "In a way yeah I am because of what she did. I just have to worry more about she's an adult ready, she knows what she's doing. But somebody needs to take care of Dylan. He's just a little man. He doesn't know." She tell us she's just glad that everyhting is going to be okay now. The hardest part was just getting through the long week wondering if Dylan would be returned. "Going day by day. Praying. Not really sleeping, just watching tv most of the time. I'm so glad he's coming back." She thinks the ident-a-kid cards really helped. (see picture left) They list things like height, weight and hair color. Police had all the information they needed very quickly to get the word out about dylan's disappearance. When he does came back, Dylan's grandmom will be taking a new approach with the toddler. "I'll hug him and kiss him and never let him go again. Just keep my eyes on him all the time. No matter what, take him with me no matter where I have to go." Dylan's grandmother expects to be reunited with the boy sometime Friday.
Police still have not arrested Dylan's mother Stephanie. She's wanted on a warrant of injury to a child.
