From University beginnings to Franchise Expansion Joseph Keeley caught the startup bug, as Business Week states it, when he was a freshman attending the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Keeley, a business student and college hockey player at the time, was searching for a rewarding summer job and found it as a nanny for two boys and a little girl in a Minneapolis, MN suburb. Quickly, Keeley noticed that he was much more than a babysitter, but rather an Active Role Model for the children coordinating enrichment, athletic and educational activities for the children when their parents were at work. The idea for College Nannies & Tutors was born.
In 2003, Keeley attracted the attention of former teacher and well known Minnesota business man Peter Lytle by winning the 2003 Minnesota Collegiate Entrepreneur Award and subsequently going on to be named the 2003 Global Student Entrepreneur of the year. Mr. Lytle, as managing partner of Wayzata, MN based Business Development Group, assisted Keeley with the financing and expansion of the concept into providing child development focused nannies and academic learning centers that provide one on one tutoring for grades Pre-K through 12. The companys motto: We foster a childs happiness and success through academic and developmental growth. College Nannies & Tutors now has four Minnesota locations including Edina, Shorewood, Wayzata and Woodbury as well as one in Phoenix, AZ. In 2005 the company announced it would begin to expand through franchising. For franchise information visit College Nannies & Tutors.com
