Jan Childress is the new franchise owner, along with Pat and Beth Covil, who will manage the stores. Prior to joining Duke Sandwich, Childress worked as an investor, while the Covils owned and operated a deli sandwich shop and catering business.
"I've always looked to make sound investments and believe this is the best one so far," said Childress. "We chose Duke Sandwich because of their strong commitment to family valuessuch as being closed on Sundays, their commitment to the franchisee and the ethical way that they operate." From Pickens County, the Childress family considers themselves "regulars" at Duke Sandwich. In particular, their daughter Brandi, a rising senior at Furman, ate at the Poinsett Highway location so often she got to know the staff on a first name basis.
"Easley is a great area, and we look forward to expanding further across the upstate," said Andrew Smart, president of Duke Sandwich Franchising, Inc. "We're very excited to welcome two new members to the Duke Sandwich family." After nearly 90 years in the food service industry, Duke Sandwich Company announced plans to franchise in 2004. The plans became official when the company launched a new division, Duke Sandwich Franchising, Inc., to manage franchising inquiries and provide support services to new stores. The franchising division is currently offering franchise opportunities in four Southeast states: South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee
