Titled "The Hair Saloon: Where Men Can Be Men," the two-page feature with color photography says "the deluxe barbershop, which is a haven of masculinity, was developed after three friends were talking haircuts." Author Jacob Bunge is referring to company founders Tom Twellman, Pat Leahy and Tom Meyer building a franchise company around Twellman's idea to start an "Honorable Rebellion," leading men away from unisex salons and back to the neighborhood barbershop.
Hair Saloon opened its first location in Manchester in 1997, and other companyowned stores include Ellisville, Kirkwood and South County. Franchised area locations include: Creve Coeur, Webster Groves, O'Fallon and St. Peters, Missouri; and Fairview Heights, Illinois. Hair Saloon Area Developers will collectively build 13 more new stores over the next few years, bringing the St. Louis-area total to 22.
In addition to area development, Hair Saloon Franchise Company, headquartered in West Port Plaza, continues to receive franchise inquiries from, and is holding private meetings with, area developer candidates in selected U.S. and international markets.
