Howard Johnson International, Inc. in association with Scholastics The Magic School Bus, today awarded 22-month old Sarah Amidon a $50,000 college scholarship as part of its 1998 Kids Go HoJoSM program. Kim Barnes, Howard Johnson Director of National Marketing and Scholastics The Magic School Bus Ms. Frizzle were on hand to present Amidon with the scholarship, a college handbook and a basket filled with Howard Johnson and Scholastic memorabilia. Were so grateful for this opportunity, said Rebecca Amidon, Sarahs mother. Sarahs father and I both went to college, and we know how great the financial burden can be. Sarahs winning the scholarship is just the greatest thing! As part of the ceremony, approximately 200 local children had an opportunity to board Scholastics The Magic School Bus, which made a special stop at the Church of Jesus Christ & Latter-day Saints in McKinney, Texas. Equipped with several interactive areas including play stations, science displays and animation cells, the bus offers children a chance to experience their own wild and zany adventures. The $50,000 Kids Go HoJo scholarship is just another example of Howard Johnsons strong commitment to children and families, said Barnes. Were happy to give back to the community, and to provide children with educational tools they can use today.
