"As of October 18th, Bell clients in Whitehorse and Yellowknife now have access to wireless digital speed and data services as enjoyed elsewhere across Canada," said Jim Jaques, Senior Vice President, Bell Canada. "This is a big step forward. Our clients will benefit from significant new and enhanced wireless services." Bell clients in Whitehorse and Yellowknife will now have access to a high capacity, digital voice and data wireless network. The Bell core network will deliver secure digital transmission and data speeds not available on the previous analog network. In addition, Bell clients will enjoy digital voice quality, longer battery life, and access to the latest in hardware technology. The Bell core network will also allow clients to access Bell's extensive entertainment content, ringtones and games while business clients can access new and powerful devices for email messaging and collaboration tools for their mobile office and business on the go needs.
Existing Bell clients can add additional features and services by visiting a Bell retail location, or by contacting Bell Client Care at 1-800-667-0123. Clients who currently have data enabled devices will now be able to use them at home or while travelling. Bell is a proud sponsor of the 2007 Canada Winter Games to be hosted in Whitehorse in February 2007. This core network expansion is part of a series of overall upgrades to the local network that will provide increased coverage, capacity, and expanded service features in time for the Games.
As a result of this new digital network, clients in Whitehorse and Yellowknife will now have access to the latest hardware and handset technology including the Blackberry 7250e and 8703e as well as the Motorola Q with Windows Mobile 5 and the Samsung a900 handsets.
