Monday night, the "Mike Kent Pioneer Award" was presented to Wayne Sutton, a franchisee who "demonstrated that he can forge ahead despite adversity". "I appreciate the award and of course it was earned by our entire team," says Sutton. "Our team went through some difficult and challenging times [during Katrina] and some of them are still going through difficult times, but the group made a commitment to press forward and we did," he says.
The Store Manager of the Year award was also presented during the evening's festivities to Brian Napp of Gulf Port, MS. Napp says it was a complete surprise. "Larry [Sutton] caught me off guard," he says. "I was quite surprised. The credit really goes to the people in my store more so than to me," he says. "They're the ones who make it happen day to day." Attendees also enjoyed a dinner cruise around Tampa Bay aboard a private ship on Tuesday evening. Story by: Dee Dee Yelverton Updated by: RnR
