There's not a single Max & Erma's (MAXE) restaurant in the South Pacific, but guests will get a taste of "The Tropics" on March 12. That's when Max & Erma's rolls out their latest special menu, which features six new tropical items. "Many of our restaurants are located in the Midwest and cold-weather regions, so we think our guests will be longing for some warm weather and a tropical escape," said Erin Reckner, Senior Director of Marketing for Max & Erma's. "Our guests have told us they want variety and this is the next step in meeting that request. We've added some great items and we're reinforcing the fact that Max & Erma's is much more than a sandwich and burger place. "The new menu is exciting and fun, and it features our always-fresh items and some bold new flavors. The recipe for the jerk chicken and chops was developed by our corporate chef and you won't find it anywhere but Max & Erma's." New items on the menu are: Blue Hawaiian A tropical drink of Blue Curacao, Bacardi, margarita mix and pineapple juice. Jerk Chicken Wings ($7.99) Crisp, marinated jerk wings tossed in our jerk BBQ sauce and served with a grilled jalapeno. Tropical Stacked Salad ($8.99) Soy-pineapple chicken tossed with baby greens, ripe pineapple, fresh vegetables, toasted coconut and honey-lime mango vinaigrette, topped with a wonton crisp and drizzles of Dijon horseradish sauce. Tropical Salmon ($13.99) Grilled Atlantic Salmon fillet marinated in sesame and soy, with sweet-and-sour glaze, nested over herb rice and fresh steamed vegetables. Jerk Pork Chops ($12.99) Boneless chops marinated in jerk seasonings- topped with a fresh-grilled jalapeno. Served with fresh steamed vegetables and our sweet potato banana mash. White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies ($5.99) A half-dozen chewy, indulgent cookies fresh from the oven. "We are very excited about the new white chocolate macadamia nut cookies," said Reckner. "The fresh chocolate chip cookies have been a big hit and we believe these will be equally well received." The Tropics items are available for a limited time. Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Max & Erma's entered its fourth decade in business in 2003. From a single, neighborhood restaurant that opened in 1972 in the German Village section of Columbus, Max & Erma's has grown to 100 companyowned and franchise casual dining restaurants. Max & Erma's grew up in the Heartland, but its footprint now extends from the East Coast to Nevada, and Green Bay to Atlanta.
