Lamar Berry has 30 years of executive experience in quick-service restaurant (QSR) franchising, senior management, branding and advertising. Lamar has also been a franchise owner himself of five QSR restaurants. Lamar was the head of marketing and advertising and the chairman of Popeyes National Advertising Advisory Council for Popeyes Fried Chicken (1975-1989) during its prolific growth from 25 sites to nearly 1,000 locations nationwide with annual sales approaching $1 billion. Lamar built that international franchising organization's field marketing and brand management systems from the ground up. He also directed the development of the creative positioning and award-winning advertising for the product that catapulted Popeyes to the Number Two position in the category in only a dozen years.
As chairman of International Marketing Systems/American Restaurant Marketing Group, Lamar has worked with numerous national franchise organizations and start-up concepts. He also led the team that developed the global brand-management system for Texaco Petroleum retail stores that was fed into more than 50 countries, including the United States.
His firm also has worked with food-related companies that include Wendy's, White Castle, Subway and Coca-Cola.
He is author of the book "The Power of Internal Marketing," which shares insights gained from developing the corporate and service culture in the gaming and hospital industries and at Disney University, the custodian of Walt Disney World's fabled service culture.
Frequently a speaker on university campuses, television and radio talk shows and professional conferences, Lamar appeared as a guest speaker and key panelist at the National Restaurant Association's National Marketing Convention onboard the Queen Mary in California, and as the featured speaker for the Seventh Annual American Marketing Association's International Collegiate Conference. Lamar is a member of the University of New Orleans Advisory Board, which advises on curriculum development in the Liberal Arts College.
