After 20 years with Canada Post, Mario Daurizio was looking for a change of pace and he knew he wanted to own his own business. After making some franchise inquiries he came across Tradebank and was attracted by the concept. "I wasn't specifically looking at Tradebank or the Trade Industry," explains Mario. "I liked the idea of owning a franchise because having the backing of a head office is important to me and something I have experience with. Working at Canada Post, we had many smaller branches and one large central office. After meeting John (Porter), I felt that Tradebank was a perfect fit. The most important thing in owning a franchise is being able to trust the owners, and I feel that John runs his business with honesty and integrity", he continues. Mario has a diploma in Business Administration with a major in marketing at Sheridan College, and along the way has taken North Carolina State and Queens University. Starting at the ground level with Canada Post, Mario soon worked his way up to manager and eventually a director position, where he over saw the Canadian operations of major mail processing facilities from transportation to retail and smaller town rural routes. He supervised a total of 3300 employees, and says that his logistics background will be a strong asset when it comes to his sales strategy for Tradebank Peel. "I would say that the Tradebank Peel region which houses Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Malton, and area, is home to approximately 1 million people", says Mario. "I am really looking forward to getting out there and spreading the word of trade and how the possibilities are endless". Former Tradebank Mississauga owner Kellie Frizell looks forward to brokering for Mario part time. "It was a hard decision for me to make leaving Tradebank and all of the relationships I have built along the way. In the past year I have had some health concerns and needed to make a decision for the benefit of my family as well as the Tradebank clients. It's been a pleasure getting to know Mario over the last few months. He brings a solid sales background to the table, and his will go along way with the Peel clients. I look forward to working with Mario to make the transition as easy as possible and to provide the best service we can for this ever growing region." Says Kellie In addition to wanting to be his own boss, Mario's position at Canada Post entailed shift work. "I'm in my late 40's now and really want to be able to spend more time with my 10 year old triplets; Marc, Lia, and Anthony. Working during the day will give me the opportunity to be with them more". Multiple births are prevalent in Mario's family, he has a twin brother and his mother has twin siblings. The children keep Mario busy when he's not working, with music lessons for the boys and gymnastics for Lia. In addition, Mario recently bought a new house, with a pool for the kids which they will get to enjoy this summer. Mario will also work his Tradebank office from home for the short term, but looks forward to choosing a central location for the new Mississauga office in the near future. "I've already reaped the benefits of trade by having my house painted and even retained a lawyer on trade", says Mario. When he's not spending time with his children, Mario is an avid golfer and enjoys traveling to many exotic locales. He enjoys an annual golf trip with friends and likes to get away to somewhere tropical as often as possible. Situated in the heart of southern Ontario's major urban centres, the Region of Peel is the second largest municipality in Ontario, with a population of over one million. Peel has undergone a major transition during the past few decades. Rapid population growth and commercial development have transformed what was primarily a rural area of farms and villages into a dynamic blend of urban, industrial and residential areas. To date Tradebank has approximately 100 clients and Mario would like to see that doubled by the end of the year. "I'm confident we can grow considerably before 2008. I look forward to educating business owners on trade and how it can work for them, and most importantly bringing with it the integrity of Tradebank." Says Mario. The regional boundaries are vast and go as far north as Muskoka, and as far west as Midland and Collingwood, and Tom and Brian intend on capitalizing on the opportunity for such enormous growth. There are still three offices for Midwestern Ontario including Waterloo, London and Barrie and brokers are available to help you maximize your trade dollar. London's office has recently moved to a larger office to accommodate the growth and can now be found at 517 Consortium Court in London. Waterloo's team includes; Andree Schnarr, Russ Hughes and Cindy Currie; representing London is Josh Crann, Rick Clark, Denise Bilyea as brokers, and Angie Ko in marketing. Last but certainly not least, Simcoe County is brokered by Rhonda Ferrell who has been in Barrie since Tradebank Simcoe's inception last year. Since its unofficial coming together, Midwestern Ontario has enjoyed some very successful functions including auctions where clients came from far and wide to bid on a great selection of products and services. "Our events have been amazing since we got together" says Brian Crann. "Clients seem to be enjoying the wider selection and the sales and purchases are higher than ever" he explains. "We have approximately 1000 clients we are looking forward to having twice as many in the next 2 years," he predicts. Josh Crann, Brian's son and broker at the London office agrees. "Bringing the region's together has made a positive difference to both the office environment and my clients. Denise handles most of the administrative duties.
