Wednesday, August 22, 2007

Automotive Franchise Systems (AFS), a Warren based automotive and home service franchisor is organizing a fundraiser for Holy Cross Children's Services (HCCS), with the help of the Detroit Tigers. The fundraising event takes place Wednesday, September 26th, 7:05 p.m. at Comerica Park. The Tigers will be playing the Minnesota Twins in the last game before the playoff race begins.

For every $20.00 ticket sold on behalf of HCCS, the Tigers will donate $5 to the non-profit organization. Tickets can be obtained by calling Laura Corbett at (586) 619-2160 x 310. Donations of $40.00 to send a Holy Cross kid and his chaperone to the game are also encouraged.

"We are excited to announce our joint effort with the Detroit Tigers in a fundraiser for Holy Cross that involves employees and their families, friends, our business community and most importantly, the HCCS kids," says Greg Longe and AFS partner and co-founder John Lynch. AFS will match every dollar donated by the Detroit Tigers.

Holy Cross Children's Services (HCCS), also known as Boysville of Michigan, is a Clinton, Michigan based non-profit organization that helps rehabilitate troubled youth to become contributing members of society. HCCS also provides much-needed programs for families. The organization is run by the Holy Cross Brothers.

According to Brother Francis Boylan of Holy Cross, the success rate of the HCCS rehabilitation programs averages an astounding 80%. "It's organizations like AFS that help us keep these kids from falling through the cracks," says Boylan.

Per the 2006, HCCS annual reports, 80% of contributions go towards their programs.

On game day, AFS will hold tailgating festivities at their newly expanded Warren offices located at 5523 E. Nine Mile Rd. Festivities will take place from 4-6:00 p.m. and include a barbeque, entertainment, 50-50 raffles, HCCS/Tiger game poster making contest for kids and silent auction.
