"We all know that playing golf requires a number of physical and mental components," said Stephanie Overbaugh of Body Balance for Performance-Irvine. "What you might not expect is the connection between golf and fitness or golf and nutrition. From his days with the PGA tour, Neale Smith knows what it takes to get to the highest level of professional golf. We're happy to have him share his knowledge with other golfers." Smith, who played on the PGA tour in 1993, got his master's degree in sports psychology at California State University, Fullerton. The Australian native is now the "mental mentor" for some of his country's best golfers, including Nathan Green and Nick Flanagan. His take on the mental game has also helped American professional golfer Hunter Mahan.
Some of the things Smith will discuss include how a golfer's attitudes and perceptions can influence his score, advice on how to develop better awareness about perceptions, and even how proper nutrition can help improve a golf game.
"People think that because golf isn't an energy-intensive sport, nutrition isn't as important," Overbaugh said. "That's not the case. Neale will establish specific links between golf and nutrition that will help take your game to the next level. By improving their nutritional intake, not only will golfers improve their game, they will also get the beneficial side effects of better health." Body Balance for Performance-Irvine is a golf fitness center that uses state-of-the-art technology to help golf clients discover body flaws or balance flaws that are affecting their golf game. They then can develop a golf fitness program for their clients that is both highly effective and easy to do even at home.
