Oven Cleaning Franchise Success Down Under

Wednesday, April 02, 2008

The Ovenu ‘phenomenon' is gathering pace over 9,000 miles away, which has opened the door for franchise opportunities for British people considering emigrating to Australia.

After a successful pilot programme and an initial franchisee recruitment drive, Ovenu has firmly established itself in Australia is offering opportunities for British people looking for a new challenge.

With the Australian franchise market being worth over 64 billion and generating approximately 14 percent of gross domestic product; it is not surprising that an increasing number of UK people are relocating ‘down under'.

Good examples of this are Bernard and Janet Bannon, the Master Franchisees for Ovenu in Australia. Having emigrated several years ago, they have established Ovenu's Australian operations. They replicated Ovenu's effective UK system and procedures during the pilot programme, making a few minor adjustments to suit the Australian market.

It was quickly apparent that the oven and BBQ valeting service was going to be a huge success and the couple already have a network of franchisees including another pair of ‘ex-pats', Toby and Carolyn Bowes.

The Bowes' have been so impressed with the reaction to Ovenu in their local area that they have also acquired a State Directorship licence from the Bannons to develop the service in Queensland.

Rik Hellewell, Managing Director of Ovenu, said: "It's no surprise to me that more and more people from the UK are looking at a move ‘down under'. The weather has a huge deciding factor, but there are other very appealing points to consider. Property for example, particularly in Western Australia, is roughly half the cost of the UK; the transport infrastructure is superb and fuel is about half the price than in the UK.

"The pace of life generally is somewhat more ‘laid-back', but the Australians know how to achieve what they want. We've all witnessed their spirit and determination in the sporting arena and this mentality is reflected in business.

"The home services industry is buoyant down under and a well planned and executed franchise offering that gives excellent financial rewards and the opportunity to plan the work/life balance was always going to do well. We are looking to expand rapidly throughout Australia with franchisees and State Directors. We anticipate further ‘happy days' ahead." Rik added: "The Australians appreciate how franchising works both as a business opportunity and a great way to do business locally with a franchisee.

"Australians tend to favour a franchisee over an ‘independent trader' as the buying public have been well educated over the years as to what the role of a franchisor is. For example, the role of ‘mediator' in the event of things not quite going according to plan, which means there is no need for expensive litigation or merely doing nothing, just a quick call or e-mail for fast effective remedy.

"This understanding and willingness to use franchise systems has proven to be great news for Ovenu, the leading UK based oven cleaning and valeting company.

Rik said: "Bernard and Janet now have the pilot scheme ‘well honed' and a huge database of delighted clients in the Perth area of Western Australia. A small number of franchisees have also joined the Bannons locally and, using the knowledge and experience that has been passed on, the franchisees are also trading extremely profitably.

"The recent granting of a State Directorship for Queensland to Toby Bowes and his wife Carolyn has demonstrated that the Ovenu system in Australia can be replicated throughout the whole country. Toby will be working closely with the Bannons and recruiting throughout Queensland in due course.

Rik concluded: "It's important, however, for the entire Ovenu corporate brand and standards to be maintained across all the countries that we operate in. To that end I personally visit Australia regularly to oversee this important aspect of franchising.
