Donna Scholz, the mother of a 7-year-old, will open the first Nanny Poppinz agency in Jacksonville next week out of her home. It will be the first Florida franchise north of Orlando.
"The families of Jacksonville are very fortunate to have her," said Susan McCloskey, co-owner and vice president of Nanny Poppinz Corp. Inc.
Founded in 1999 in Miami and based in Coral Springs, Nanny Poppinz offers full-service referral options 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for individual consumers and businesses.
The franchisee pays a one-time $35,000 franchise fee that includes training for the baby-sitters in CPR, first aid, automated external defibrillator use and nanny best practices as well as a database of more than 7,000 pre-screened contacts to fulfill customized requests for not only nannies, but temporary baby-sitters, newborn specialists, cooks, housekeepers, tutors, drivers, elder care and pet sitters as well. The service to families includes background checks and other appropriate documentation. Nanny Poppinz also receives a 9 percent royalty fee.
There are 21 existing Nanny Poppinz locations in Florida, Virginia, Michigan, California and Colorado and seven more are preparing to open in Arizona, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Florida. All the existing franchises are home based.
"Our goal is to have a location in every zip code in the country," McCloskey said.
