Alamo Drafthouse Gets New Franchise Agreement

Monday, October 05, 2009

A new company has purchased the franchise rights to the Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas in Houston and will develop seven more locations in San Marcos and other Texas cities.

Triple Tap Ventures LLC's principals include Norman Abdallah, a co-founder and former CEO of Fired Up, which developed the Carino's Italian Grill chain. The other principal, Neil Billingsley-Michaelsen, has corporate finance and management experience.

Triple Tap plans to develop Alamo Drafthouse franchise locations in Amarillo, Corpus Christi, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, as well as San Marcos.

"I have been a fan of Alamo Drafthouse for years and feel it is one of the strongest emerging brand in the unique ‘cinema eatery' segment, " Abdallah said. "We look forward to building Triple Tap into a solid regional entertainment management and development company." Alamo Drafthouse co-founders Tim and Karrie League retained the three Austin locations downtown, South Austin and on Anderson Lane when they sold the franchise operation several years ago to John Martin and other investors in 2004.
