Elementary Students' Artwork Chosen from Among 35,000 Pieces of Art

Two young artists from Back Creek Christian Academy have won the premier art contest hosted by Young Masters, a national franchise that showcases children's artwork on lasting keepsakes.

Kindergartner, Emily Goodman, and Fourth Grader, Matthew Barsody from Back Creek Christian Academy were named the art contest winners by a team of Young Masters judges for their skill and creativity applied to their artwork more than 35,000 pieces of artwork were submitted this Fall to the Young Masters headquarters in Atlanta. Back Creek Christian Academy will receive $500 for its art department and a pizza party and both Goodman and Barsody will take home a host of products showcasing their winning art work, including a tote bag, puzzle, postcards, t-shirt, bag tag, key chain, notepad holder and a 4-foot WallPix.

"Art education is a critical part of a young student's learning experience and it's truly rewarding to help support the art program at Back Creek Christian Academy," said Crystal Horne, local Young Masters franchise owner serving Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Counties. "These young artists are extremely talented and very deserving of this award." With Young Masters, children create original artwork during class, which is then transferred onto mugs, mouse pads, sweatshirts, tote bags, postcards and a variety of other useful products as memorable keepsakes or gifts for parents and families. Schools that work with Young Masters receive a percentage of the proceeds from product purchases to support their art departments.

The Young Masters process was designed to be simple and hassle-free for participating schools. Students create their artwork on special paper provided by Young Masters using the teachers' art lessons or free lessons developed by Young Masters. The franchise owner collects the artwork and creates a customized order form for each child featuring his or her artwork. Next, the forms are sent home to parents and families to review, where they can choose from dozens of products featuring their child's artwork. Finally, the order forms are sent to the school or organization, the Young Masters franchise owner collects them and delivers the lasting keepsakes back to the school.
