Dollar Thrifty Opening New Franchise Stores

Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. said it is increasing its franchising activity and has granted 15 new automotive franchises in the last two quarters and expects to grant 13 more in the next 90 days.

Dollar Thrifty said the expansion includes 19 domestic and 9 international franchises. President and CEO Scott Thompson called franchising an important tool, allowing the company to expand into smaller markets and markets overseas.

Dollar Thrifty had 1,262 franchise locations in 81 countries in addition to 296 company-owned stores.

Shares of Dollar Thrifty rose 2 cents to $36.23 in afternoon trading.
