Asian Inspired Quick Serve Meets Consumer Demand for Fresh, Healthy Foods; Signs Area Development Agreement for 21 Franchise Locations

Complete with a new prototype, retooled menu and grilling options, Teriyaki Experience is expanding its flavorful, healthy Asian-inspired fare throughout Northern California. The company recently announced an area development agreement with SBM Food Corporation, targeting Northern California to develop 21 locations over the next ten years throughout Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer and San Joaquin Counties. The first location is slated to open in Sacramento in 2011. This is part of a nationwide expansion plan that calls for 500 locations across the nation in the next 5-7 years.

"The current economic environment presents an excellent growth opportunity for us, as consumers continue to seek more inexpensive but healthy dining options," said Nick Veloce, President and COO of Teriyaki Experience. "It's an exciting time for us as we build momentum and take big steps towards our national expansion goal." SBM Food Corporation and Founder David Marquez will lead Teriyaki Experience's Northern California expansion, backed with over 30 years of restaurant and business experience in both corporate and franchise operations. SBM is also a franchisee of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, operating two high volume locations in Sacramento with record sales in 2009. Previously working in various positions with McDonald's Corporation, Marquez will bring with him best practices and lessons learned from McDonald's founder, Ray Kroc. "I am excited to bring fast, fresh dining option to the Sacramento market," said Marquez. "As more and more consumers begin to realize that fast food doesn't always have to be the typical quick service fare, we look forward to continuing to provide them with a healthy, delicious alternative to their dining options." Teriyaki Experience offers customers the option of cooking their food with water to minimize calorie and fat content for a more healthy option or with their signature Asian cooking sauce for a more flavorful experience. Using the teppanyaki griddle to prepare meals fast and fresh, sizzling meals are prepared in less than three minutes and right before customers' eyes. The menu features a selection of rice and noodle meals, soups, wraps, salads and sushi. Most menu items have less than 10 grams of fat and contain less than 600 calories.
