Moore, Jr., founder of Seacrets. "Now we're ready for more growth. We expect we will have at least three franchises operating within the next five years, with more to come in following years." Seacrets opened in Ocean City, Maryland in June of 1988 as a small Jamaican-themed bar and restaurant with an occupancy of less than 200 people. Owner and founder Leighton Moore loved Jamaica, and wanted to bring Jamaica to where he wanted to live and work near his home town. The concept has grown steadily into a vacation entertainment destination since its conception and today, stretches over six acres of land with occupancy of 4,600. The flagship Seacrets location boasts 18 bars, six entertainment stages, a hotel, its own radio station, a night club and indoor and outdoor dining areas. Seacrets' unmatched, flexible design and time-tested operating systems enable the management team to quickly adapt its size accordingly while still maintaining the service, atmosphere and feel customers expect. Not all franchises are expected to be the size of the Seacrets flagship location but they will be encouraged to acquire enough land to add a hotel to their complex as they grow.
The franchise program, developed with the help of the Chicago-based iFranchise Group and Franchise Attorneys Plave / Koch will initially be rolled out in Mid-Atlantic state(s), with national expansion and locations outside the U.S. to follow. "The Seacrets concept could easily expand nationally right away," according to Gary Figgs Vice President and CFO of Seacrets Franchising. "But Seacrets main goal is to ensure the success of our franchisees "" and so we are taking a somewhat conservative approach to expansion." Scott Studds, Operations Manager, believes this will be a solid franchise program, based on the company's experience and what they're seeing in the marketplace. "Not only does this program capitalize on the potential growth of our unique niche in the hospitality franchise sector, but it has the support of an established organization behind it," he said. "We believe we have all the consumer appeal, products, services, and philosophy to sustain our expansion goals," concludes Leighton W. Moore. "As we expand through the addition of franchises, we expect that our brand will be built to last and only become stronger."
