Door- To- Door Dry Cleaning Goes Green

Thursday, March 06, 2008

Door-To-Door Dry Cleaning announces initiatives put in place to help the environment.

Are you concerned about the environmental effects of dry cleaning? There are good reasons to be. Dry cleaning with perchloroethylene, or perc, is associated with environmental and health risks. Concerns over perc have opened the door for alternative dry cleaning methods that include wet cleaning, liquid carbon dioxide (CO2), and Green Earth.

Addressing these environmental and health risks, Door-To-Door Dry Cleaning's Territory Director Bryan Dunn announced today that ecologically intelligent practices have been incorporated into the company's day-to-day operations.

Door-To-Door's green initiative, which includes several energy-saving strategies, is being carried out according to standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

"We want to do our part in becoming more environmentally friendly, and we choose supplies, resources and services designed to reduce dry cleaning's ecological footprint," said Dunn. "Small changes can lead to big differences within our communities." A few highlights of what Door-To-Door Dry Cleaning's green program includes: All clothes will be cleaned with liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) which is the only dry cleaning chemical considered non-hazardous and leaves no residue.

A hanger recycling program where customers simply place unwanted hangers back in their Door-To-Door bag where they can then be recycled.

Saving trees by communicating customer's invoices and statements through email instead of traditional paper printed copies.

Accepting credit card transactions allowing customers to cut back on paper consumables as well.

Dunn also notes that, "our customers are already doing their part for the environment by simply using a delivery service. Allowing one vehicle to do the work of hundreds keeps fewer cars on the roads, allowing less emission to pollute our air, and save gas."
