Providing daily kilojoule intake totals and exercise output, the app is designed to take the guesswork out of working out and eating well, while also putting women in touch with a community of like-minded, health conscious people.
Fernwood National Marketing and Operations Manager Zofia Williams explains that "Facebook was specifically chosen as the platform to launch the Food Coach On The Go because of the incredible community spirit, the sharing it allows users, and the accessibility of the medium." Community spirit is big at Fernwood clubs, Zofia confirms, noting that the company prides itself on providing "a motivating and supportive environment for women." "Our new Facebook App is an extension of that support and encouragement into the wider social media space," she adds.
As an added incentive for users, a selection of fun badges can be collected through the app when certain milestones are reached, further enabling women to share their achievements within their own support network as well as the wider Fernwood community.
"We believe these combined social elements, on top of the functionality of the App, will give women the best chance of achieving their desired results," Zofia says.
The Food Coach On The Go app can: monitor daily kilojoule intakes help users build meals educate users on portion sizes and food categories display weekly exercise regimes keeping track of kilojoules burnt while exercises; and predict how many more weeks or months users are away from reaching their goals.
