BungoBox, founded in May 2009, rents reusable plastic boxes to save consumers time and money over traditional moving methods. The edgy and innovative company, with a slogan of "We Make Moving Less Sucky," takes the hassle out of rounding of moving materials by delivering its stackable moving boxes to a customers' doorstep. (A large box of about 2.5 cubic feet rents for $1.75 a week.) Once they've been unpacked, BungoBox picks them up at the new residence.
The new franchise was awarded to husband and wife John and JoAnn, who were both born and raised in the Capital Region. "Nothing like it exists in this area and it piqued our interest enough to research and pursue the franchise opportunity together," John says. "Wishing to maintain our desired lifestyle outside of the corporate marketplace, we saw an opportunity to create and fill a need." "We are homegrown local residents who hit a rift in the current high-unemployment economy and are choosing to put our experience and skills into a ground-floor opportunity that offers the American dream we believe in so strongly," JoAnn says. "BungoBox is a game changer in the moving industry." John previously worked as an executive sales manager with Fortune 500 high-tech companies. In the past, JoAnn worked an art teacher, graphic designer and production manager and owned her own graphic design business.
Their franchise will service Albany, Schenectady, Troy and Saratoga counties, as well as the Capital Region, Columbia, Fulton, Montgomery, Warren and Washington counties. The population they will serve is approximately 900,000. Their new franchise is slated to begin operations in the coming months.
