Mr Pretzels Opens At Lakeside

International snacks on the go retailer Mr Pretzels, which has more than 160 stores in 17 countries across the world, has opened its first outlet within the Capital Shopping Centres portfolio, at Lakeside in Thurrock.

The snacks specialist, which prepares and bakes its products onsite, has opened a 350 sq ft unit at Lakeside close to Debenhams and opposite Sole Trader and Cafe Nero. The retailer is in discussions for further stores within CSC's market leading shopping centres.

Jonathan Ainsley, director of asset management south at Capital Shopping Centres, said: "Mr Pretzels is an international brand that offers our visitors something truly different within Lakeside, adding a unique twist to our food and snacks offer and we are pleased to be able to introduce them into the CSC portfolio." Marlene Makhoul, managing director of Mr Pretzels (UK) Retail said: "Capital Shopping Centres have good malls with high footfall and we believe that our products will be appealing to their customers who want something to keep their energy levels up when they are on the go and busy shopping." Lakeside, which celebrates its 21st birthday this year, has continued to grow its catering offer alongside its retail offer. Costa Coffee, for example, is to open a second store within Lakeside later this year following the success of its first, while Pie & Mash Kitchen opened at Lakeside last year.
