This will give the agency "additional tools and resources to better serve our clients," said Rhonda McLeland, owner/broker, who said the firm will retain its crew and services.
RE/MAX has national recognition, said McLeland. It was founded in 1973 by Dave and Gail Liniger, who still lead the Denver, Colo.-based global franchisor with a reach of more than 80 countries.
Heartland Realtors, established in 1986 by Mark Lemon, is a full-service real estate brokerage. Lemon said he established Heartland when he was at a point in his career where he had enough experience and abilities to start a firm. McLeland became the owner in 2010.
Carl Sondaniel of the central RE/MAX office approached McLeland and sought out the agency on Heartland's reputation. The firm has been watching Heartland grow, Mc-Leland said.
"We've been in association with them ever since I bought it," she said.
Acquiring the franchise is a conversion, said McLeland, as it partners with an existing real estate brokerage. RE/MAX Systems are now in place, she said.
Realtor Associate Edward Behr said RE/MAX "liked the way we're doing things so wanted us to represent them." Shannon Anderson, broker associate, said she appreciates the way RE/MAX uses technology, including its website at www.remax.com Broker Associate Mike Romig added, "Heartland is who we are," noting he believes residential sales are on the rebound.
Clients are excited and supportive, said McLeland. Most recognize the international balloon sign, she noted.
"We couldn't be more excited about the opportunity in this market and the chance to combine forces to provide the best RE/MAX has to offer," said McLeland.
