Panera Grand Opening In Newport Pavillion

The Newport Pavilion shopping center is about to get a whole lot busier: Panera Bread opened at 6 a.m. Wednesday, featuring the company's first drive-through location in the region.

The first 1,000 customers through the doors will receive a free coffee tumbler, coffee and a Cinnamon Crunch bagel. The first 300 drive-through customers will receive a free Cinnamon Crunch bagel.

Panera Bread offers freshly baked breads, bagels, pastries and cafe menu items. The Newport location is the company's 21st location in Greater Cincinnati and its first drive-through.

On Saturday, Panera Bread will also host a "Mystery Gift Card Giveaway" beginning at 10 a.m. Customers can select a gift card after buying their meal; 100 cards will be given away in denominations ranging from $5 to $100.

The 4,700 square-foot bakery and cafe will be staffed by four salaried general managers and about 55 associates. It will be open 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.

The company also plans to be active with local charitable groups and activities, including the Freestore Foodbank.

Newport Pavilion has been booming in recent months, with new several restaurants and retailers joining the flagship stores of Kroger and Target. New offerings include Chick-fil-A, Buffalo Wild Wings and Chipotle, as well as Dick's Sporting Goods, PetSmart and Michael's.
