Wingstop Restaurants Inc. has taken another step in its international expansion plans, landing a franchise agreement that will plant 50 new restaurants in the Philippines.
The Dallas-based restaurant company signed a development agreement with franchise partner Wingstop Philippines Inc., which will open the first location in the Philippines later this year.
The announcement comes as Wingstop works to build its international footprint. Last year, the company signed an agreement that would add 15 restaurants to the United Arab Emirates. It also has agreements to open 190 locations in Russia, Mexico and Singapore.
The company, led by CEO Charlie Morrison, has more than 600 restaurants and commitments to add more than 500 more. Wingstop plans to open more than 85 locations this year.
"Following a record-breaking year of development in 2013, the demand for Wingstop continues to flourish around the globe," said Dave Vernon, Wingstop's chief development officer. "This agreement puts us well on our way to what we expect to be another record year of growth for Wingstop."
Earlier this week, Wingstop announced the appointment of Flynn Dekker, former Pizza Inn executive, who will serve as the company's chief marketing officer.
