Kruse, her husband Chris Kruse and her sister, Bethany Sharp, launched their "TapSnap" franchise this spring.
Once they wheel their photo kiosk into an event site and set up, the TapSnap team is able to create custom party photos, complete with a library of images that can be superimposed over the photos. Corporate logos and other images also can be overlaid onto the images.
Images can be uploaded immediately to social media outlets such as Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, Twitter or Picasa or the client's website. There's a printout feature available for those who want to take something home to hang on the wall or refrigerator.
"It's a real twist on the traditional photo booth. It offers you so much more," said Kimberly Kruse, who started the franchise after leaving a job in corporate finance. Kruse said their TapSnap franchise covers all of Kent County.
TapSnap's basic package begins at $700 per event, with additional fees for customization. The average fee per event is about $1,000, Kruse said. So far, their events have included estate sales, a launch party in a local bar and a Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce event.
