"Our franchising structure and systems are tried, tested and proven. For more than 20 years Totalspan has been designing and building steel sheds, garages and buildings," says general manager Kerry Edwards.
He explains the company's focus around the Do It For Me Model (DIFM), where Totalspan handles the construction process from start to finish, requires franchisees exhibit particular skills and personality traits. "It demands strong financial, people and organisational leadership from franchisees in a diverse and dynamic environment.
"The franchisee will need to lead the business to create presence and awareness ensuring enquiries are generated and converted during a technical sales process. The differentiated, genuine full service solution that Totalspan offers requires a structure to manage and deliver a great experience during the building process. This includes the management of the council process, concrete and erect of the building," Edwards adds.
He explains Totalspan is a proven franchise system, where everything is handled in-house and quality assured.
"We design, engineer and manufacture all of our products, so franchisees have a unique advantage in the market by being connected across all aspects of the supply chain.
"What's more our quality, affordable steel buildings are designed and built for life "" we stand behind every one with a 25 year structural guarantee." The initial franchise term is five years, and there is an option to renew for an additional five year period.
Edwards says the initial franchise fee can range from $30,000 through to $50,000, and is dependent upon a number of factors.
"Start-up costs vary as the requirements of individual territories can be quite different. In addition each business model is unique with much depending on existing operational structures and capability that may already exist.
The franchise fee covers everything from operations and sales training through to a marketing kit and display product, however it excludes the display site itself and company vehicle.
What can franchisees expect in ongoing fees? Edwards says: "Our agreement provides for ongoing royalties however at this point these are not charged. A number of co-funded promotions are agreed and executed each year requiring investment from the franchisee, however there is no marketing levy."
