7-Eleven puts zero franchise fee offer on 200 of its weaker stores, including 31 in Texas

Tuesday, February 17, 2015

7-Eleven thinks you may be able to run a store better than it can, at least in some locations. And in the process, it's letting everyone know which stores aren't doing as well.

The Dallas-based company has made a zero-franchise fee offer on 200 of its low-volume stores, including 31 in Texas. Most of the Texas stores are in the Dallas area. (See Texas list below.) 7-Eleven is waiving its franchise fee that can range in the Dallas area from $109,000 to $176,000 depending on the location.

Lower volume stores will also receive other financial assistance such as a $20,000 loan that doesn't need to be repaid if the franchisee keeps the store for two years.

The zero-franchise offer is good through June 30. 7-Eleven made the announcement Tuesday at its annual meeting with store managers and franchisees in Las Vegas.

7-Eleven has been aggressively building new stores and selling franchises in the Dallas area the past few years including in downtown Dallas. There are now 417 stores in North Texas.

Nationwide, it's added 1,600 stores in the last four year. The zero-franchise offer was made to existing franchisees and anyone else. The company said it's the first time it's eliminated franchise fees. Other cities with zero franchise fee stores include Charlotte, Manhattan, Baltimore, Richmond, Orlando. Portland, Ore., and Jacksonville, Fla.
