Epcon Home Building Franchise Launches New Franchise Development Website

The Epcon home building franchise, America's 36th largest home builder ("2013 Builder 100," Builder magazine, May 2014), has launched a new website to explain the franchise opportunity to people interested in becoming home builders.

The site features video of Epcon's founders and leadership team, stories from Franchise Builders and details about the housing market and Epcon's business model. Epcon is one of the only home building franchises. Epcon and its Franchise Builders develop maintenance-free homes in communities popular primarily with 55+ buyers -- a demographic that is expected to drive home sales for several decades, according to Metrostudy, the nation's leading provider of primary and secondary information on the housing industry. Each day roughly 10,000 Baby Boomers retire, and about 10,000 more will cross that threshold every day for the next 20 years. Metrostudy, a research arm of Hanley Wood, projects a massive mismatch -- hundreds of thousands of units -- between Baby Boomers looking for maintenance-free homes and what is available on the market.

"We have spent nearly 30 years developing ranch-style homes in maintenance-free communities designed to meet the needs of a niche that has been largely ignored by other builders," said co-founder Ed Bacome. The company was co-founded by Bacome and Phil Fankhauser in Dublin, Ohio. They had young families and were content to expand in Columbus.
