COBS Southpointe in Red Deer owners Scott and Mandy Wigley - Behind the Bread

Friday, June 05, 2015

Scott and Mandy Wigley are opening the first COBS Bread in Red Deer at Southpointe Common on Wednesday, June 10th! They are very excited to share the COBS Bread products with their community. When did you join the COBS Bread family and what inspired you to do so? We are first time COBS Bread franchise owners. COBS Bread attracted us with tasty baked goods, which also have options that take healthy eating into consideration. We found the idea of the daily left over product being given to organizations that help others in need on a a daily basis very appealing. What did you do before working at COBS? We moved to Alberta in 2002 from Manitoba. At that time, Scott worked in industrial painting and together we owned and operated our own flower shop in Red Deer for six years. We sold it when we had our two boys.

Why COBS Bread? We are baking a high quality product every day for our customers. COBS Bread bakeries use whole grain flour, high quality ingredients and scratch baking techniques with no added preservatives or artificial colors or flavors in their traditional breads and many other products. What do you enjoy the most about being a franchise? The franchise has an excellent track record with its 700 bakeries in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. We love the COBS Bread products and the opportunity it gave us to get involved in our community. We love meeting new customers everyday. Which charities will your bakery donate end of day products to? We are currently looking for charities to donate our End of Day Bread to at COBS Southpointe. Please contact us at [email protected] for more information.

How are you planning on getting involved in the community? We will be getting involved in community events through out the year, in addition to supporting them through our Dough and Bun Raiser programs. We will also be partnering with the Ronald McDonald House Central Alberta in Red Deer on our Community Day on June 10th where 100% of our sales will be donated to the organization.

A little more about us.... What do you like to do in your spare time? We love to spend time with our friends and family. Our boys keep us busy and we love to get them out and about in our beautiful city. COBS Southpointe will be opening its doors on June 10th from 8am-6pm. All proceeds from opening day will go to the Red Deer Ronald McDonald House Central Alberta. Hours of operation for the bakery will be 7am-7pm, 7 days a week.
