Marketing a business on a budget can be challenging. Advertising is expensive, but there are a number of things you can do to market your business that cost little to nothing. Last time we gave you a few low cost marketing ideas. Today, let's look at some more marketing strategies you can implement on a small budget.

Give your product away. The best way to entice people to try your product is to give them a sample for free. This is great for food items, but can also work with other retail merchandise and services. Getting to try something for free will bring customers in the door, and the quality of the product or service will keep them coming back.

Rotate your efforts. Consumers respond to being contacted in different ways. If they get too many emails from you, they will begin to tune them out, so rotate your efforts through a variety of channels. Offer specials for your social media followers. Send out a promotion postcard or offer a special deal around an event. Make sure every communication with your customer base is beneficial to them and contains a special or deal that will encourage them to come to your location. Giving a coupon or asking them to mention an offer will also help you track your efforts so you can concentrate on the things your customers respond to.

Use your phone to promote specials. Try announcing a special offer when you answer the phone. Something like, "Good afternoon, thank you for calling The Rack where all tops are buy one get one free this week. This is Angela, how may I help you?" Make sure the offer is special enough to grab their attention, and increase urgency by supplying an end date for the offer.

Send a follow up offer soon after a customer makes a purchase. Send a thank you with a special deal good on their next visit such as a percentage or dollar amount off. Be sure to include an end date to create urgency for them to return.

Include an offer in all you correspondence. When you send or pay a bill, send a monthly statement or email, or initiate any other correspondence always include a coupon or offer. You won't increase your postage costs and might just reach someone who could use the product or service you offer.

There are many ways to market you business on a budget.
