Pirtek, A Top 50 global franchise, looks to grow Tampa Bay operation

Fresh off a recent buyback of the United States operations of his family's global industrial hose replacement service, Pirtek CEO Glenn Duncan counts Tampa Bay as one of his key growth areas.

With U.S. headquarters in Rockledge and global headquarters in Australia, Duncan estimates he can get nine total centers opened in the Tampa Bay area to deploy repair vans to clients and sell ancillary goods.

He's in discussions with three people to open franchises soon, he said.

Tampa is much like the Australian city of Brisbane, Duncan said. His family has opened around 100 centers during the company's 30-plus years in that country. Pirtek opened its Orlando-area office in 1997.

"Tampa is performing." A franchise in Miami will open by October. Pirtek currently boasts about 50 locations in the U.S. with franchises in Europe, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, China, Mongolia and Canada.

The U.S. division was valued at $60 million in Duncan's buyback. The company has ranked as a top 50 global franchise by Entrepreneur magazine.

The company's name is also on a Sydney stadium used for concerts and rugby games.

Pirtek will open one location per 500,000 population base, Vice President of Franchise Development Gwyn O"�Kane said.
