Coldwell Banker franchise acquires El Paso's Prudential office

Friday, August 28, 2015

Prudential BKB Realtors, a 37-year-old El Paso real estate firm, has been sold for an undisclosed amount to Coldwell Banker Legacy, an Albuquerque-based real estate company with two El Paso offices, the companies reported Friday.

"We are always trying to acquire other offices. We are always looking to grow and expand," said Charles de Wetter, managing broker for Coldwell Banker Legacy, which bought de Wetter's El Paso company last year.

Brian Karch, 48, broker-owner of Prudential BKB, said his franchise agreement with Prudential ended and he decided selling the firm was the best solution for his staff. Prudential sold its real estate brokerage business in 2011, and eventually all the Prudential franchises will end, he said.

Karch said he expects to go to Coldwell Banker as a broker associate along with his 14 sales agents. The deal takes effect Sept. 1. Prudential is closing its West Side office.
