Amy Cheng Receives I F A's Women's Franchise Committee Crystal Compass Honor

Amy Cheng, partner at Cheng Cohen, is the International Franchise Association's Women's Franchise Committee recipient of the Crystal Compass Award. The Crystal Compass signifies outstanding leadership and is bestowed today during the association's 56th Annual Convention.

The Crystal Compass award is presented annually to an individual within the franchise community who epitomizes the ideals of leadership and has earned a reputation for leadership. Those chosen for this honor have made significant contributions within their respective franchise organizations, the franchise community in general and in their local communities.

Cheng has been a leader in fostering franchise relationships within the franchise industry. She is an active participant with IFA's Legal Symposium serving as Task Force Chair for 2015-2016 and Vice Chair for 2013-2014. Under Cheng's leadership, the 2015 Legal Symposium received an overall conference evaluation received a score of 97.4 percent, up from 92.9 percent the previous year and received a score of over 94 percent in each of the five categories that were evaluated, which has not been done since 2010.

Cheng represents franchisors on the structuring and operation of their franchise programs, through all phases of development. She also represents non-U.S. based franchisors expanding into the U.S. market. Prior to forming Cheng Cohen in 2007, Cheng was a partner with DLA Piper US LLP and its predecessor firms. Her past IFA leadership roles include Co-Chair of the Chicago Chapter for IFA Women's Franchise Network 2005-2009, Co-Chair of the Chicago Chapter for IFA's Franchise Business Network 2004-2007 and member of the Women's Franchise Committee 2009-2015. She currently serves as a member of the IFA Supplier Advisory Board.
