Silver Cross franchise opens in Sudbury

Savaria Corporation, which bills itself as North America's leader in the accessibility industry, has opened a new Silver Cross franchise in Sudbury

Serving Sudbury, North Bay, Elliot Lake and the surrounding communities with home medical equipment, the new store is the first franchise opened since Savaria acquired the assets of Silver Cross in September 2014.

"North America is seeing unprecedented growth of the seniors market and most people would prefer to stay in their own homes as long as possible," Marcel Bourassa, president and CEO of Savaria, said in a release. "Through our new Silver Cross division, Savaria is excited to offer the best products, backed by caring staff who can help this aging population get the right solutions to improve their home mobility.

"Silver Cross stores are a key strategy for our future growth and our new Sudbury store is one of many to follow," Bourassa said.

New owners Dean and Chantelle Jacklin said they made the choice to buy the Silver Cross franchise based on their backgrounds in health care and customer service.

"We know there is need for the products we sell, but more important, there is a need to offer the very best service to the community in which we were born and raised and that is paramount for us in how we will operate every day," said Dean Jacklin, franchise owner.

Located at 760 Notre Dame Avenue, the new store features a showroom with a full line of products including stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, wheelchairs, walkers and rollators, scooters, bath safety products and aids to daily living.

Silver Cross Sudbury offers sales, installation and after-sales service and they can even source recycled equipment when available and offer short-term rentals. The showroom is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and Silver Cross offers free in-home assessments by appointment to accommodate client needs.
