"We've made excellent progress with our Altamonte Springs location," said Herbert, who acquired the two locations in February. "We felt comfortable the business and operations had reached a point that the timing was good to expand."
The only franchise brand of its kind in the United States, PIRTEK USA specializes in hydraulic and industrial hose services through its locations across the United States. The Tampa/Pinellas locations currently have a team totaling eight, including Herbert, who expects to double the number of team members in 24 months.
"Tampa has been an outstanding market in the past and has a lot of potential," Herbert said. "I also liked the fact that it's an existing franchise, so a lot of the initial setup work is already done. Our mantra is 'safety, quality and one-hour ETA.'
Industries the two locations will pursue and serve are typical for PIRTEK centers: construction, waste and recycling, manufacturing and transportation "" including ports and airports.
PIRTEK USA team members are available 24/7 to provide on-site repairs to hydraulic and industrial hoses, thanks to the company's specially equipped Mobile Service Vehicles. PIRTEK boasts more than 400 franchise locations in 23 countries around the world, including 81 in the United States.
PIRTEK Pinellas is Tier 2 location. Under the Tier 2 program of ownership, franchisees can acquire a PIRTEK for a lower initial investment by leasing two vehicles and keeping inventory in a storage facility. The traditional Tier 1 model includes a Service & Supply Center along with the Mobile Service Vehicles. Tier 2 owners are required to upgrade to a Tier 1 center within three years.
Herbert said he is optimistic about success in the new location's territory. "I like the territory of Pinellas County. There's a lot of industry," he said. "People think it's all beaches but there's a lot of industry. I can easily see it becoming a brick-and-mortar location before long."
