PIP Marketing Signs Print in Anchorage has been recognized as the Alaska Small Business of the Year. The business is owned by Shelley Bramstedt and John & Jan Tatham. Both Shelley and Jan accepted the award for Small Business Person of the Year at the nation's capital as part of National Small Business Week.
Small business owners from across the country were honored at the event in D.C. for growing their business and helping their community. Acting SBA Administrator Chris Pilkerton said, "Small businesses are the backbone of the country. They really are the engines that drive the economy." She added, "Small business owners like Tatham and Bramstedt are perfect examples of what it means to be an entrepreneur "" to invest in their communities and dream big."
President and COO of PIP, Richard Lowe said, "I"m not surprised Shelley, Jan and John have won this prestigious award. They invest heavily in technology to support their customers. They have an excellent team and over 40 years of experience in the marketing, signs and print industry. We are very proud of their accomplishment."
Tatham and Bramstedt credit their success to their employees, many who have worked at their printing and sign company for more than a decade. Tatham stated, "Someone suggested we go to the SBA, and we did, and that's how we got started on the road to our success."
Tatham and Bramstedt attended many business seminars while they were in D.C. for National Small Business Week. They will be bringing what they learned back to their team in Alaska.
