About Ches's Famous Fish and Chips

Ches’s Fish and Chips is part of generations of tradition dating back more than 60 years. If you are interested in delivering excellent taste and great value from a well-established Canadian restaurant franchise specializing in authentic fish and chips.

Ches’s long history is part of the company spirit. The beginnings of Ches’s Fish and Chips began with Ches Barbour in 1951. He started a small fish and chips place, by fishing the narrows of St. John’s harbor. In his small boat, Ches would catch some fish and return back to his shop. He would sell the fish and chips in the evening for the dinner crowd.

It is true that fishing has defined the people of Newfoundland in terms of home-grown culture. Fishing in Newfoundland is a part of tradition that will not soon be forgotten.
