Bear Rock Group Plans Expansion

Charlotte-based York Development Group recently acquired the Bear Rock Caf� area development rights for up to 30 locations across the Carolinas. Bear Rock Caf� is a quick-casual restaurant featuring a wide variety of sandwiches, fresh salads, oven-fresh breads, soups, baked potatoes, and gourmet desserts. "We plan to do between 10 to 20 locations in the Carolinas over the next couple of years," says Doug Baumgartner, owner of York Development Group. "Bear Rock Caf� will play an integral part in our neighborhood development focus." Baumgartner's company focuses on development projects in the Southeast, including large retail sites and build-to-suit projects. "Our Bear Rock partnership is part of our ongoing focus," he says. "We are combining compatible, quality restaurant and retail uses through acquisition and operating partnerships to create upscale, pedestrian friendly neighborhood centers." Based in Cary, Bear Rock Franchise Systems Inc. oversees 38 locations with 150 signed franchise and area development agreements across the United States.
