We are proud to add our voice with that of Eleanor Roosevelt who said, It is today that we must create the world of the future, and so it is with this charge that Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery & Grill has provided this book for families to come together in reading our story on a young boy who has moved away from his home country and must now adjust to his new environment. Mr. Krusts Christmas shows children how reading is magical and can take them anywhere.
Mr. Krusts Christmas will be distributed throughout our 80 locations nation wide, at the New York Public Libraries as well as to churches and schools both here and in Jamaica, West Indies.
Golden Krust Bakery & Grill also has two major scholarships both here in the United States and in Jamaica. The Golden Krust/ Bronx Community College scholarship, for students living in the United States was launched earlier this year by the President /CEO Lowell Hawthorne who is a graduate of the college. This scholarship was set up in an effort to give back to his alma mater and the community in an effort to instill hope in the minds of young adults the importance of believing in their dreams. The scholarships are awarded to model students for their academic achievements, persistence over hardships and community service. The second scholarship, The Mavis Hawthorne Memorial Essay Competition is awarded in the United States and Jamaica to graduating high school seniors accepted to college.
