Earlier this year, Van Houtte announced they would donate $1.00 from every kilogram of Javanation coffee sold in February and March. A total of 9,725 kilograms of Javanation coffee were sold and an additional $275 was raised internally at Van Houtte to reach $10,000 mark.
'Van Houtte is committed to giving back to the community, and with Javanation featuring beans from Sumatra, Indonesia, donating some of the sale proceeds to that region is a way for us to show our support,' said Joseph Audi, Director of Marketing, Van Houtte Inc. 'It's our commitment to high-quality beans that brought us to Sumatra in the first place, and along with our loyal Van Houtte coffee lovers, we're able to provide help to those who need it the most.' 'This donation will go a long way in rebuilding the lives and communities of those lost in the devastating tsunami,' said Dr.A. John Watson, President & CEO of CARE Canada. 'Van Houtte has been a long-time supporter of our efforts and have always been ready to be called on for those in need.' The Javanation collection features beans sourced from single origin countries. These countries Guatemala, Costa Rica, Sumatra (Indonesia) and Kenya are renowned for the exceptional conditions in which their coffee is grown, harvested and processed. Even though these regions differ geographically, all the Javanation single origin coffees are grown in mountainous terrain, where temperature variations enhance the robustness, density and flavour of the coffee bean. Along with the single origin coffees, the Javanation collection features three new espresso blends offering a variety of distinct flavours that are sure to please even the most discerning of espresso coffee connoisseurs.
The Van Houtte Javanation collection is currently available at select grocery stores across Canada and online at www.vanhoutte.com. The single origin coffees are sold in 250 g (8.82 oz) bags and the espresso blends are sold in 300 g (10.5 oz.) cans.
