The partnership comes as part of Duke Sandwich's franchise expansion throughout the Greenville area. As new franchise restaurants open, the Greenville Humane Society will host a pet adopt-a-thon at their grand opening events.
"Partnering with Duke Sandwich will allow us to reach animal lovers all over the Greenville area," said Robyn Wilcox, community outreach director for the Greenville Humane Society. "We look forward to finding many good homes for our dogs and other animals." The first grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday, August 13th from 11am to 1pm at the new Duke Sandwich location at 1941 Woodruff Road, near Highway 14. At the grand opening, Duke Sandwich will also debut its new "Duke The Dog" company mascot.
In addition to hosting adopt-a-thons, each new franchise owner will donate a portion of the proceeds for the week's peanut butter and jelly sandwich sales to the Humane Society.
"It's very important that as Duke Sandwich Company grows, so does our role within the community," said Andrew Smart, Duke Sandwich Company president. "Partnering with the Humane Society is a great way for us to support a cause very close to our hearts." Duke Sandwich franchise openings are scheduled throughout the summer and into next year. The new restaurants will be located in Greenville, Spartanburg, Clemson, Anderson, Simpsonville, Easley and Powdersville. Duke Sandwich is also opening new franchise restaurants in Charleston and Myrtle Beach.
