Fiducial Co-sponsors National Small Business Week

Monday, April 10, 2006

If small businesses are indeed the engine for economic growth in America as professed by the U.S. Small Business Administration, then those companies that help them succeed play a pivotal role in making sure those engines remain well-tuned. With that in mind, Fiducial is among the co-sponsors of National Small Business Week 2006 with events scheduled on April 12-13 at various venues in Washington, D.C. The two-day conference, sponsored by the SBA, will focus on small business accomplishments with particular attention paid to the disaster victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Events will be held at the White House, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Building at the Hall of Flags, U.S. Department of State Reception Room and Ronald Regan International Trade Center. More than 100 outstanding small business owners from across the nation will be honored. Four major awards will be presented including the announcement of the National Small Business Person of the Year.

National Basketball Association Hall of Famer Elvin Hayes, who owns a small business impacted by Katrina, will serve as spokesperson for the event. Among the list of notables expected to be in attendance are U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, SBA Administrator Hector V. Barreto and Tom Donohue, president of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. President George W. Bush has also been invited to attend.

Due to the unique group of prominent speakers, venues and events, the program will afford exclusive branding and marketing opportunities. Being a co-sponsor of Small Business Week is seen as a natural fit for Fiducial, according to franchise business advisor Tom Schnaidt.

"That's because of the business we're in providing accounting, tax and financial services to the small business community," said Schnaidt. "This is in keeping with what the SBA does out there helping people to solve business problems." As a co-sponsor, Fiducial will benefit from gaining increased exposure for its logo and spreading the company name throughout small business circles.

"This will really get our name out there so we don't keep it a secret," Schnaidt said. "This adds to Fiducial's credibility as well. It gives us exposure in places that Fiducial's logo wouldn't ordinarily be seen." Good company to be in The Fiducial logo is going to be presented in a number of different areas. The program guide includes a one-page advertisement for Fiducial to recognize its sponsorship and support of small business. A general registration bag with be handed out to the expected 700 attendees that includes the logo and branded gift.

The logo will be prominently displayed on the homepage of SBA's website that receives about one million visitors per week. Those coming to the site will be able to click from the SBA's main page to view winners and co-sponsors of Small Business Week.

The SBA promises significant website traffic leading up to and well after the event and into the month of May. Fiducial's logo and web link, www.fiducial.com/sba, takes traffic to www.fiducial.com where visitors will receive a free gift (mouse pad or Frisbee) by filling out an information form. Following the event, the SBA plans to place a full-page ad in Time magazine that will honor the National Small Business Person of the Year or multiple winners. Logos of the co-sponsors will also be displayed on this page.

Fiducial's participation in Small Business Week is also seen as a chance to build a lot of goodwill. "Hopefully we will get new clients as a result of activity from the SBA site coming to our site and going to our branch offices," Schnaidt added. "It's the right audience. Anyone that is aligned with the SBA is highly favored in terms of looking for advice and doing business. That's good company to be in." Stephen Parezo is the Media Manager for Fiducial.
