Maine Set For July 4th Holiday Baseball Classic

PORTLAND (ME) | Wednesday, March 01, 2006

The second annual Frozen Ropes Summer Classic Baseball Tournament will be held June 30- July 3 at The University of Southern Maine and St Joseph's College. Hosted by the Frozen Ropes of Portland, the 12 team tourney will feature some of the best talent in the country as designated home team Nova Seafood (Deering HS) has won 5 of the last 7 state title, including a National American Legion championship in 2004.

The summer classic offers teams a 5 game minimum and is open to all 19-under teams. The tournament fee of $650 per team includes umpires, baseballs, opening BBQ, player t-shirts and Maine's beautiful summer atmosphere.

Frozen Ropes of Portland is a leading advocate of baseball in the state of Maine. University of Maine alumnus and Frozen Ropes owner Mike Couts and staff have been the driving force behind the Maine High School All-Star game and the resurrection of the Maine High School Baseball Coaches Association.
