Computertots/computer Explorers Integrates Technology Training Into Public School Curriculum

Friday, October 14, 2005

COMPUTERTOTS/COMPUTER EXPLORERS (CTCE), a provider of technology education for children, is breaking new ground, conducting a pilot of their Integrated Technology Resource Program (ITRP) with public school students in the Madison County School District in Mississippi. Helen Pinkerton, owner of CTCE in Madison, facilitated this partnership with educators and administrators in the Mississippi public school system. "A trend seems to be emerging in U.S. public schools, especially in the area of technology education, to use private contractors who can offer students specialized training," says Pinkerton. "Using CTCE in conjunction with regular school curriculum gives school districts the ability to offer students a higher quality education without the expense of employing more faculty." The pilot program was launched at the Madison Avenue Upper Elementary School and Pinkerton predicts the success of the ITRP program there will encourage other public school officials and administrators throughout the state to see the benefit of using CTCE technology training throughout the public education system. "Forming a partnership with COMPUTERTOTS/COMPUTER EXPLORERS is a wonderful opportunity for both our students and our teachers," says Jo Prather, elementary curriculum coordinator for the Madison County School District. "Working together, CTCE and our faculty provide a unique blend of specialized expertise in education and technology that will make science more exciting and attractive to our students."
