Truestar Health To Study Childhood Obesity

Friday, November 19, 2004

Truestar Health Inc. will be conducting a six-week focus group to encourage families to take action against childhood obesity using the five key areas of health that make up the Truestar system: Attitude, Nutrition, Sleep, Vitamins and Exercise. The study will be featured on the innovative, educational television series, Today's Family. The study involves 11 families with at least one obese child and one obese parent. The children range in age from 8 to 16. Over the course of six weeks the families will follow the Truestar Weight Loss Programthey will eliminate their intake of junk food while using the Truestar Nutrition Plan for weight loss, they will participate in the Truestar Exercise Plan and they will take vitamins and supplements as directed by the Truestar Vitamin and Supplement Plan. The families will also receive motivational material and goal-setting guidance based on the Truestar Attitude plan. The aim of the study, which runs from March 8 through April 19, is to determine the effect the Truestar plan has on the overall health of families. Families will receive guidance and support from Truestar Health experts and progress will be recorded during weekly meetings. The study is being conducted as part of a television special called Today's Family which will air on several networks, including ABC Family, Oxygen and AmericaOne. The program will be repeated 50 times between June and September. Unlike many other online health resources, Truestar Health is dedicated to improving the health of an entire family, regardless of age or individual goals. They hope to encourage a lifetime of healthy habits. An adult membership to Truestar health is only $9.95 per month; spouses can join for only $4.95 per month and each child is only $1.95 per month (USD). Truestar Health encourages members to take the first steps toward healthy living by making small changes. The site features personalized nutrition, exercise and vitamin plans, along with sleep tips, a goal-setting program, self-help tests and up-to-date articles and health information. "We are committed to improving lives daily through the harmonization of the five essential components to optimal health," says Tim Mulcahy, the company's founder and most verbal proponent. Truestar Kids and Teens is a revolutionary program that addresses the total health needs of youngsters from age 2 to 18. In today's fast-paced, commercialized world it can be difficult to ensure that children eat well and exercise regularly. The site's goal is to educate and inspire children to pursue wellness by implementing healthy and fun meals, supplement plans, exercise and sleep programs and motivation strategies. Then, kids score their daily successes with the Truestar Daily Life Improvement Checklist. This will encourage them to set and pursue goals and achieve their best every day! With corporate headquarters in Toronto, Ontario, Truestar Health was developed over two-and-a-half years by a team of leading experts. For more information, visit www.truestarhealth.com.
