Koa Upgrades Internet Reservation Process

The last thing any camper wants after a long day on the road is a surprise when they pull into their campsite.

That's why Kampgrounds of America has launched the camping industry's premiere Real Time Reservations system, which puts campers in total control of their reservations.

The new system, already in use at nearly 200 of KOA's 450 campground locations, allows campers to research the different types of sites available on a specific KOA Kampground, pick the type of site they desire, receive an accurate rate quote, complete their reservation and receive immediate confirmation of their transaction. The system also makes it easy for KOA franchise owners, since the reservations are fully integrated with KOA's KampSight campground management computer system.

"There is really nothing more we have to do other than greet the camper when they arrive," said Amy Raposo, owner of the Barry, Ontario KOA. "This really is a great service for campers and KOA campground owners." "The upgrade to the online reservations process makes it possible for campers to have more flexibility when making their reservations by allowing them to pick the exact type of site they want, and the instant confirmation now provides peace of mind," said Tracy Kern, KOA's Director of Digital Marketing.

Campers can now read detailed descriptions of the sites available on each KOA, including site location and special amenities that may include decks, grills, patios or perhaps even a hot tub. They will also receive a "real time" price quote for their site.

It's anticipated that all 450 KOA Kampgrounds will be offering the Real Time reservations system by early 2007.

"This upgraded process gives campers what they really want . . . a confirmed campsite or Kabin and an accurate rate quote with no surprises," said Jef Sutherland, KOA Vice President of Information Services. "It also gives campers more choice by allowing them to read all about the available site types and make their own decisions about what they want.
